The Beauty in Rejection

Working as an artist brings a lot of rejection into our lives—rejection by a casting director, rejection by a publisher, and perhaps even rejection from loved ones who may wish we wouldn’t have to struggle.

However, there is beauty in rejection.

There are countless reasons why an agent might decide not to represent somebody or why a casting director chooses someone else. But in the end, it all comes down to one thing: it wasn’t meant for us. We might try to fit into places, convincing others that we belong there before fully believing it ourselves.

Rejections help us understand what we truly want and how we can grow. Sometimes, they even save us from walking a path we weren’t meant to follow but felt desperate to pursue.

Getting rejected is part of the job, and even the most successful artists have experienced it time and time again. It’s normal to feel disheartened, I certainly have. But in the end, the most important thing is to keep moving forward.

Each no refines our path, guiding us toward what was truly meant for us.

The Beauty In Rejection

There’s a lot of rejection in this world
A lot from others, and perhaps a few hesitant ones from you.

With all this rejection, it’s hard to keep hope,
As you wonder: “Am I at fault?”
But don’t be disheartened.

The path isn’t easy; it takes time and effort.
You’ll often find yourself standing in front of the wrong doors,
Discouraged as someone closes them right in front of you.

But one day, you’ll arrive,
And you’ll thank them for not misleading you.

As you are finally where you were meant to be.

Let’s keep moving towards our goals and even when faced with challenges, embrace them, knowing they help us grow and create opportunities in unexpected ways.
